You can listen to an audio version of this newsletter above. Please note that this is unedited and I’m recording in my home office with the overhead fan going.
I’d like to invite you into your imagination for today’s letter.
(Feel free to jot down your responses to the following prompts in your journal or in the comments of this Substack.)
When you picture your personal and professional life a year from now, what do you see?
How do you want to feel when you open your laptop and begin your work?
What goals do you hope to have completed by this time?
Now, let’s return to the present. Upon reflection, can you confidently say that you have a clear path leading from today’s reality to that imagined future?
If so, that is incredible! Please share in the comments the key lessons you’ve learned while forging this approach toward your personal and professional goals. I’d love to hear your wisdom (and surely other readers would, too!).
If not, that is totally understandable! We are not born holding a step-by-step guide to crafting the life we want to embody. The good news is: you’re not the first person to walk this road. There is support and guidance available.
The process I share in Perceptible Progress: A Goals Course is the actual process I use for my own goals. By developing a plan before I dive in, I’m able to make meaningful forward progress in service of my future self.
As I discuss in the course, there are a few common obstacles that delay or prevent us from achieving our goals:
Unclear focus
Unsure of workflow order
Distracted by multitasking
Everything feels like a priority
Perceptible Progress will guide you through addressing each of these obstacles so you can pave a path to follow as you work toward your goal. Through lessons on habit formation, goal-setting, focus, technology usage, and personal resource management, you will become an expert in clarifying an actionable and achievable approach, building momentum, and progressing on your important goals.
After you watch the 1.5-hour workshop and complete the 40-page workbook, you’ll know exactly how to make steps forward through intentional productivity sessions where you work on the right tasks in the right order.
The best thing about Perceptible Progress: A Goals Course is that you’ll receive lifetime access to the materials, so you can use them over and over again for your future goals. My dream with this course is that you’ll get to know your preferences, develop some new habits, and increase your ability to use these tools in the future.
Imagine being able to…
Clearly define your goal and quickly outline the steps to reach it
Easily prioritize and schedule the tasks required
Consistently evaluate how your personal resources (time, energy, focus, spoons, etc.) play a role in your productivity
Conquer aversive tasks that you find boring, frustrating, or difficult
Build a personalized productivity session that is most effective for YOU as an individual
Develop a practice of reflecting and planning so you can continue to repeat and refine your strategy
If your future self would benefit from gaining these skills now, I welcome you to sign up for Perceptible Progress: A Goals Course here. The course is $100 and you’ll get immediate access to the materials when you sign up. Registration closes Friday, August 4th.
Curiosities
This section of my letters is for things that made me say “hmmm” or “wow!” recently.
I’ve been updating my presence on LinkedIn in an effort to expand my reach to other professionals. If you’re also on LinkedIn, let’s connect!
We watched “The Unbearable Weight of Massive Talent” with Nicholas Cage and Pedro Pascal and I really liked it! It was an action movie, but I laughed out loud multiple times at the shenanigans that that characters got into.
I am really enjoying wearing my PhD in Rhetoric hat as I work on a piece about self-discipline for you all! Since I finally watched “The Unbearable Weight or Massive Talent,” I finally understand the context behind the viral meme of Cage grimacing and Pascal grinning. Here’s a meme I made that is inspired by research I’m working on for an August post on self-discipline. Can’t wait to share the whole post with you soon!
