It’s June! Gemini Season! I couldn’t pass up the opportunity for mid-year reflection, but at the same time, I’m not in need of a serious redirect. I’m occupying a season of “sustaining” (an idea I learned from creative coach Jen Carrington), which means I’ve got projects on deck, great coaching clients, and a calendar that’s full but not boiling over.
As a result of my current work sustainability, I have capacity and interest for more creativity and playfulness in my days. I tailored my mid-year reflection to help me focus on continued work sustainability and increased play and creativity, focusing explicitly on what I want to start, what I want to stop, and what I want to continue.
I’m sharing my process with you in case you’re craving a mid-year reflection session but don’t want to allocate a ton of time to the process. If you truly wanted to dial it down, you could answer just three questions: What do I want to start? What do I want to stop? What do I want to continue? Like all productivity tools, I encourage you to take what works, leave the rest, and edit the process to make it fit your needs and interests.
What Do I Want to Start?
What am I craving?
What am I curious about?
How do I want to spend my personal resources (time, energy, focus, spoons)?
What are three new things I want to try over the next six months?
What Do I Want to Stop?
What actions, beliefs, and/or behaviors are no longer serving me?
Is there anything I’m doing just because I feel like I “should”?
Are there any boundaries I need to set or reaffirm?
How can I bring grace and softness to my stopping process, especially if I feel apprehensive?
What Do I Want to Continue?
What is bringing me joy and nourishing me?
What are my favorite parts of my day, week, or month?
What matters the most to me right now?
What will be my three biggest focuses for the next six months?
I’d love to hear what reflection and planning prompts are helpful for YOU.

Dr. Kate
