Hello everyone. I woke up today to a text from my spouse Kris, who is on a business trip in Texas, asking me to call them because the news was bad. It was good to hear their voice and commit to caring for one another and our community, but I wish they were here with me to process the news together out loud, to hug and to cry together.
I’m still in shock at the heartbreaking outcome of the U.S. election, and am genuinely terrified of the potential repercussions for so many vulnerable people. I’m also sadly not surprised by the results—power and money and white supremacy and xenophobia and transphobia all intertwined to prompt these results and the percentage of mostly white people who voted in favor of this result feels like a sick norm.
Many folks whose opinion I value are sharing reminders that we will need to show up for our communities and care for one another—that a single president in power was never going to change everything—and I’m trying to remember that today, too. I’m also planning to deep clean my apartment as a coping mechanism.
Anyways, it felt a little grotesque to send my usual Wednesday email about productivity today. Instead, I’ll share just a few small updates I had planned to share and I’ll send out my regular email on Friday instead.
A Few Things to Note
It’s not too late to sign up for AcWriMo! This November, Dr. Katy Peplin (of ThrivePhD) and I are sharing free resources and events to support writers on academic projects. You are invited you to join us via this link.
Calling all folks working on academic projects like a dissertation, book proposal, article or manuscript, job applications, etc. I’m looking for 2 new clients who want to start Success & Accountability Coaching in November. Curious? Let’s chat here!
I created an exciting new resource, which I’m calling the Sustainable Productivity Planner. This workbook walks you through many of the actual steps I take clients through during a coaching session, hitting on the what, why, when, who, and how of your productivity plans. You can access it here.
See you Friday with a post on productivity and sending you wishes to care for yourself and your community today, this week, and always,
Dr. Kate
