One of my favorite parts of coaching people who are working on long-term projects is the relief they feel when I teach them about planning productivity sessions.
When we’re working on a project for months or years, we can fall into the belief that we’ll never finish. While we might start our workdays with the best intentions to check off all of the boxes on our to-do lists, it’s a common experience to end the day and encounter a sense of bewilderment that we worked so hard but feel like we didn’t actually make meaningful progress.
This is where productivity sessions can be helpful.
A personal productivity session involves choosing a task that is appropriate for the time you have, the location you’re in, the way you feel, and other projects and deadlines on your docket.
When we shift our approach from generally chipping away at our to-do lists throughout our day to planning deliberate productivity sessions, we may find more success with scoping out our projects, increasing efficiency, and making progress without unnecessary overwork.
Another one of my favorite parts about my work as a Productivity Coach is creating resources, like workbooks, videos, and this newsletter. I’m thrilled to share with you a brand new workbook that I’m calling, “How to Build Purposeful Productivity Sessions.” It features three tools that I’ve found most helpful in structuring my own productivity sessions over the years: getting clear about a purpose for my own productivity session, planning ahead to navigate obstacles that might come up, and refining my approach to my productivity sessions as I go to improve my experience and my success.
I’d love to hear your thoughts on my workbook and if you have an idea for another workbook you’d like me to create in the future, feel free to share a suggestion!
Take care and talk soon,
Dr. Kate
Thank you for your workbook. The questions are not too little or too much - perfectly calibrated!
