Productivity is about “accomplishing the specific tasks we hope to accomplish.” On the surface, that sounds doable, right? Just check off your to-do list! In reality, it’s not so simple. In our late-stage capitalist world where hustle culture is glorified and workaholism is normalized, even our best intentions for practicing work-life balance might land us in burnout or overwhelm. If we live with chronic health conditions, this challenge may feel magnified, especially because personal resources (energy, time, spoons, etc.) fuel our productivity and our self-care practices.
The good news?
Because productivity does not EXIST in isolation, we do not have to DO IT in isolation.
I created Success & Accountability Coaching because it was what I desperately sought while writing my dissertation: someone who could help me make my goals actionable, someone who would hold me accountable to the to-do list and schedule we co-created, someone who would celebrate my progress alongside me.
My coaching is a testament to what is possible when we allow ourselves to experience productivity as a team sport. The hope is this: as a client at Cornell University shared,
I came away with so much more than just reaching that milestone. Through our work together, Kate always made me feel seen, heard, and understood, which in itself was helpful motivation to work towards the goals we set together, on top of the already effective strategies, reminders, and tools we discussed.
Everyone is different, so I tailor my approach to your unique goals, strengths, and obstacles. Still, based on what I’ve witnessed from my clients, here’s what you can expect to gain from Success & Accountability Coaching:
An increased sense of self-compassion as we undo our culture’s narratives of hyper-productivity, perfectionism, and workaholism
Tangible tools for completing your goals, including personalized to-do lists, schedules, and deadlines
The clarity and confidence to manage obstacles by making proactive plans for potential pitfalls you may encounter
A greater capacity to practice pause when we come across unhelpful patterns, behaviors, and thoughts that crop up around your productivity
The skills to reflect on your experience with personal resources (time, energy, focus, spoons, etc.) so you can infuse our lessons into your work life moving forward
More insight into what kind of boundaries and rhythms work specifically for you
…and more!
When you sign up for Success & Accountability Coaching, I’ll ask you to complete a questionnaire so I can learn more about your goals, strengths, and wishes for our work together over the next six months. Our initial coaching session is 90 minutes, giving us time to dive deep into your current productivity approach and chart out the path forward together. After that, we’ll meet roughly every other week in 75-minute coaching calls, where we’ll continually refine your task lists and practices.
I’ll synthesize and share notes from our coaching calls with you within 48 hours. Between calls, I offer accountability and momentum through weekly check-in emails and invite you to respond with updates and questions via an email or voice memo.
I have been privileged to support my coaching clients in achieving a wide range of personal and professional goals over the years, including dissertations, academic publications, business and sabbatical plans, professional promotion and tenure materials, creative writing projects, and graduate school applications. All while prioritizing rest, self-care, and boundaries amidst their overlapping responsibilities!
A final word from one of my former clients:
If you need a compassionate, thoughtful and committed coach, Kate is the person to go to. I was feeling lonely and stuck in the process of writing my dissertation, and her Success and Accountability program was exactly what I needed [….] I wholeheartedly recommend Kate to get unstuck and work towards what matters to you. — A.L., PhD Student, Columbia University
